I was issued my driver’s license at 16. When I’m 18, I’ll be eligible to vote (basically decide the direction of this country), or join the military (die for this country), but I won’t be able to drink, take out a rental car, or purchase a firearm. I’ll be able to enter a legal contract to buy a car, but I can’t rent one? When I turn 18 I can take out a bank loan, or a mortgage, buy porn, be in porn, rent a hotelroom or body mod without consent. I could literally be nearly blown to bits by IEDs in Iraq, but I couldn’t join a local police force. I wouldn’t be allowed to enter a casino, but I could buy cigarettes and lottery tickets? It’d be illegal for me to have sex with a 17 y/o in some states. But at age 16 I could have gotten married (with the permission of a parent), you know, entered a binding contract.

OK

Why are laws nonsensical? They’re out of touch with the times, our current social climate. If they were based on neuroscience, the age of majority would be 25.
